This picture was taken on a cruise with the Trautman family back in 2005. Even though Marty was not a Trautman, he was welcomed into the family like one anyway. Marty went to be with his Lord this morning after battling cancer for quite some time now.
I will always think of Marty as a great big, tall, bushy haired Teddy bear. He had a soft heart for people and especially his girls (Kathy, Clair, Elissa, Katie and Erin). Even at times when the Trautman women were I little too much, he would quietly go off to another room never looking like he is being left out . He loved his girls, family and friends very much.
Only knowing Marty since he and Kathy married over 15 years ago, I missed out knowing the “wild” Marty from his band years! It’s hard for me to imagine this wilder side because of his reserved and layed back personality.
This is Marty when he played with the Oregon Rock Allstars!
Marty taught me by example to let life roll off your back when things aren’t going the way you thought it should. Even through his sickness, he celebrated life in every way he could. Building a house on the coast for his family, singing on worship team, and yet never complaining about whatever pain he was in or how tired the treatments were making him. I need to incorporate more of that in my life each day! Thank you Marty for that lesson that can change how I live the rest of my life.
